I went aboard a battleship years ago that was in the harbor in Mobile. I had a few hours to kill before my plane took off after driving in from the coast from a business meeting, so I took the tour. It was fascinating just to think about the men who fought aboard that ship, and to think about my dad traveling in a ship from island to island in the Pacific during WWII. I'm a land lover, I don't do well aboard sea vessels, and it bothered me that so many of the men on board had to do most of their traveling below decks, with no sunshine and no fresh air. I don't think I could do that. I do so admire them.

The last photo of the room with NO sunshine reminds me why I couldn't ever be a part of the Navy in particular. I'm too much of a sunshine-loving Florida girl to put up with that nonsense for too long! I'd go bananas.
