Boots on the ground

SPC Mark is on the ground and turning in equipment. Family status: Mom - jubilant; Dad - numb; Brothers - happy. SPC Mark is worn out, as expected.

Too all, a heart felt thanks. Jan, we raised a glass or two last night. Thank goodness the brew pub was within walking distance of the hotel!

LAW, I'm smiling this a.m. Last year, Mark was home for six days when they received "pre-deployment" orders. Block leave was cut short and off they went for another 10 months. I am thinking this one will hold.

Lisa and Bonnie, Thanks for the sentiments. Mark reads this daily.

And Mighty Mom, there were at least 200 on that plane. Lots of smiles (and hangovers) today.

Funny how you think you know just the right thing to say.
You wait for the day to come, and when it does, all you can do is look at the pictures, breathe a sigh of relief, and grin.
You look marvelous Mark.
Thank you for doing that which few have the (I was going to say balls here, but I won’t) intestinal fortitude to do.
Serve our country.
You’ve been a part of something that you should be very proud of.
As you grow older, you will realize it.
My best to you.
Enjoy your time with family and friends.
You deserve it.
